Peppermint contains an essential oil (peppermint oil) with menthol as its main ingredient (29-48%).

Other ingredients include methyl acetate, menthon, carvone, cineol, jasmon, carvacrol, cadine, felladren, limonene and others.

The peppermint also contains flavonoids, phytol, tocopherols, carotenoids, betaine, choline, azulenes, rosemary acid and tannins.

The amount of the different ingredients can vary. depending on the climate and soil where the plant grows.
